Geraldo Rivera Apologizes For Trayvon ‘Hoodie’ Comments

March 27, 2012 - Fox News Channel commentator Geraldo Rivera said Tuesday that he’s sorry for suggesting that a hoodie worn by unarmed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin was as much responsible for his death as the neighborhood watch captain who shot him.

Rivera said a conversation with his oldest son on Monday convinced him he was wrong. Rivera said it was the first time 32-year-old Gabriel Rivera had said he was ashamed of something his dad had said – and it caused the dad a sleepless night.  Read more at newsone.com.

Zimmerman’s Black Friend Says ‘Coon A**’ Not Racial Slur

March 27, 2012 - Joe Oliver, the only black friend of George Zimmerman who is willing to show his face on camera, told Chris Mathews of “Hardball” that “coon” is not a racial slur, Think Progress reports.

Dennis Rodman is Sick and Broke!

March 27, 2012 - Dennis Rodman is not faring well these days. The rebounding legend is allegedly struggling with his alcohol addiction and unable to meet his child support obligations, according to ABC News.

Rodman’s battle with the bottle has been documented on the “Celebrity Apprentice” and “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.” His erratic behavior on “Celebrity Apprentice” in 2009 led to an intervention that included famed NBA coach Phil Jackson and a host of concerned family and friends.  Read more at newsone.com.

Trayvon Martin Protesters Ransacked North Miami Beach Walgreens

March 27, 2012 - North Miami Beach Police are investigating after a group of high school students who walked out of school in protest of the Trayvon Martin shooting were caught on video ransacking a drug store last week.

The incident happened shortly before 11 a.m. Friday at the Walgreens at 1501 Northeast 163rd Street, minutes after between 400-500 North Miami Beach Senior High students walked out to protest the 17-year-old's shooting death in Sanford.  Read more at nbcmiami.com.

Trayvon Martin Shooting: Sanford Cops Requested Arrest Warrant

March 28, 2012 - The Sanford Police Department requested an arrest warrant from the Seminole County State Attorney's Office in the Trayvon Martin shooting, a special prosecutor in the case said Tuesday.

Electric charging stations open to the public at USFSP

March 28, 2012 - The University of South Florida St. Petersburg installed two electric vehicle-charging stations that are free to the public for the first year.

Rep. Rush Kicked Off House Floor For Wearing Hoodie

March 28, 2012 - U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Chicago) was kicked off the House floor Wednesday morning for wearing a hoodie in protest of the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman told police Trayvon punched him, bashed his head on sidewalk

March 26, 2012 - George Zimmerman claims that he shot Trayvon Martin in self-defense, according to Sanford police. Although he still has yet to make a public statement -- Zimmerman is thought to have gone into hiding -- his official statement and account of what occurred the day that he shot and killed the unarmed teen has been unearthed by the Orlando Sentinel.

 

The self-appointed neighborhood watchman was en-route to the supermarket when he noticed Trayvon walking through his "gated community." NOLA Cop: Trayvon Lived Like A Thug and He Died Like One

March 26, 2012 - New Orleans police officer, Jason Giroir, 35, has been suspended indefinitely without pay for making disparaging remarks about 17-year-old Trayvon Martin online, reports NOLA.com.

In response to a comment posted Sunday on WWL-TV.com on a story about Trayvon, who was unarmed when he was gunned down by George Zimmerman, 28, Giroir said that the 17-year-old deserved to die:

Ervin Jefferson Case: Security Guards Arrested For Impersonating Cops

March 27, 2012 - Curtis Scott, 25, and Gary Jackson, 26, were charged with impersonating  police officers on the night that 18-year-old Ervin Jefferson was killed outside of his home in Dekalb County, GA, reports the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

The private security guards allegedly detained women at the scene of the shooting by telling them that they were officers. According to reports they were fired upon from Ervin’s residence by his step-father, Bobby Hubbard Jr., 35, was also arrested and charged with “reckless conduct and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon,” reports the AJC.  Read more at newsone.com.
